What is Whisky Cask?

Scotch whisky is an alcoholic beverage (known as a spirit) created from water and malted barley.

The angel's share is the whisky lost to evaporation during the aging process. Each year, roughly 2% of the liquid leaves the cask this way.

The Scotch ages for at least three years in oak barrels, sometimes called oak casks and bottled at a minimum alcoholic strength of 40% abv.

Scotch whisky matures in oak casks that have occasionally seen use before for wine or other spirits.

Cask to Bottle.

The Scotch whiskey bottling process is a meticulous and highly regulated journey from cask to bottle. It commences with the careful selection of aged casks, typically made from oak, where the whiskey has matured over an extended period.

After selecting the optimal casks, the whiskey undergoes a thorough quality assessment before being transferred to UWS’ bottling facility where our professionals will meticulously combine different cask contents to achieve the desired flavor profile. Following the process, the whiskey is meticulously filtered and if required, diluted with pure water to achieve the desired alcohol content.

The final step involves bottling the whiskey under strict quality control measures, ensuring consistency and adherence to regulatory standards. Each bottle is labeled with relevant information such as age, distillery origin, and alcohol content. This detailed process, guided by tradition and expertise, results in the exceptional quality and character for which Scotch whiskey is renowned worldwide.
